Forest Lawn Nomination to be held on August 29th from 5-9pm
What will I bring to the constituents of Calgary Forest Lawn?
Graduated with Master in Leadership 2017
I have been a grass roots supporter of the many conservative parties in Canada at both the local, provincial and federal levels.
Specifically I have been an active member of our EDA for as long as I can remember (despite boundary changes) and was a director on the board until putting my name in for this nomination process!
By supporting my nomination, you are putting forward a candidate that is well informed on a variety of local and global issues. I am the candidate that is the most passionate about helping the communities and constituents of Calgary Forest Lawn as this is my home.
Living in the community
After graduating from the University of Alberta, and working in a number of rural towns across Alberta as a teacher, I moved back to the street I grew up on! My children have attended the Village Square pre-school and are moving between the elementary and Junior High schools in Pineridge and Forest Lawn.
Surrounded by Family
My husband of almost 20 years and I have two beautiful children. My daughter is turning 11 this month and my son just turned 3. While we had the option to work anywhere in the country, we chose to come back to where our families live. I have always considered North East Calgary to be my home and have many relationships within the communities that make the Forest Lawn electoral district feel like family.
I have been a teacher since 2006. I started out in one of the northernmost communities in Alberta (Fort Vermillion), then moved down to a tiny farming town (Foremost) and finally, as my family started to grow, I came back home to Pineridge. I am a middle school Math, Social Studies and options teacher and recently completed a Master Degree in Leadership.
Active in the Community
My passion for political activism is clearly evident in my classroom, just ask any of my students that have helped me run the KidsVote program!
In my professional field, I empower children to be active members of their community. However, I lead by example, I am an active member of my community association and attend many socially relevant events in our electoral district. I would like to carry this passion over in an elected position. If nominated, you will see me take a hands on approach to ensuring the needs of our constituents and communities are addressed.
"My family and I have been active in the Forest Lawn EDA for over 20 years. I live in our riding and my children attend our schools. I am proud to be a member of our community!"
